using RS232 of a computer to control motor movement

I want to control motor movement using Rs232 and visa programme.Can sb. load up some examples for me?A Rs232 com can control the direction and step signals of a motor dirver?

If your motor controller has an RS-232 port for remote programming, then you can control it. The actual commands required are going to be listed in the manual for the controller. You have not provided the make and model of the controller you have so it would be impossible to provide any example. Search NI's IDNET to see if a LabVIEW driver exists for your controller.

Standard RS-232 is not multi-drop capable.
