Is there any specific commands for VMIC to request from instrument, like GPIB interface.
OR there are common "commands" for all instrument to configure them etc.?
thanks

Hi Hayderra,
Are you using any National Instruments software to interface with your VMI PCI-5565? This is a discontinued GE product, not a National Instruments product. Please respond with some more information on what you are using to communicate to this instrument and I would be happy to assist you.

Hi, Jackie
Actually I want to communicate with 3-axis turn Table where already one vmic interface is available (fiber optic Tx,Rx port).
now I have another card VMIPCI-5565 installed on our PC , both can be connected using fiber optic cable.
I want to give commands to Turn table regarding e.g, angular rate of inner axis of table etc from my PC. Actually I never used GE-fanuc 5565 reflective memory interface.
I have experience with NI-GPIB card communication with agilent and other third party instrument. Now I want to ask that is there the methodology will be same as GPIB or different, like table manufacturer will give us "COMMAND REFERENCE".
Regards,
thanks

Hi Haider,
I am slightly confused by your question. GPIB is a sepecific communication protocal that devices can communicate with. If your device follows this protocal then you should be able to communicate with it using NI-GPIB. However, if it uses another communication interface that GPIB will not work. A good place tolook for this information would be the product manual of the instrument. Feel free topost back if you have any more questions about this!
