will RAM affect the data acquisition speed

Dear all

If i am using a Data acqusition system (say agilent datalogger or a NIcompaq daq)  connected to my computer through a USB or Rs232 cable,will the RAM size and RAM speed affect the acquisiton rate.?

I understand that the speed is limited or governed by the cable (rs232/USB) and mainly by the hardware(DAQ) to read and answer the commands.

However what will be effect of changing to a better high speed high capacity RAM?

Since your data must transfer to RAM for signal processing, if you've to small RAM or RAM FSB is too low, it'ss effect your data acquisition application.
