ARM9 based dev board for LabVIEW?

Hello all, I am a newbie to this embedded field, and now I would need a powerful development kit (ARM9) with VGA or TV out and USB for a Web Cam. And it is strongly required to have enough memory for runing LabVIEW. Does anyone know a (cheap) board with these features, he/she could recommend? thank in advance!

Hi all.. Still no recommendation : ( ... I finally found one kit named VGA2410 yesterday at developmentboard.net. I think it would be perfect for me. The board is nice, it meets all of my requiremenst, and contains all the necessary accessaries. The price is reasonable. And the company in China would provide me English instruction files, so I can modify it by myself in the future and learn more about the embedded things. I found that development kits from China are really cheap, maybe you guys should try this http://www.developmentboard.net next time when you need some boards.

Hi leon20008,

This Web page here has information regarding what ARM processors are supported with the LabVIEW Embedded Module for ARM.  Even though a particular ARM processor might not be fully supported out of the box, this article explains how to port LabVIEW in order to work with your specific processor.  Be sure to check here to see if the processor is capable of being supported.  This list is constantly being added to.

I hope this helps,

Hi Kevin

Can I use Labview Embedded Module to programme TI's CC2431? Please send some information to me. Hong.Zhang@agresearch.co.nz

Thanks

Hi Hong,

The CC2431 appears to be based on the Intel 8051 architecture. There are two reasons that I would not recommend using LabVIEW Embedded with this chip:
  1. It has very little memory.128 KB flash memory and 8 KB RAM is enough for a small LabVIEW Embedded application, but not enough for most real-world applications written in LabVIEW.
  2. No OS. I could be wrong about this, but I didn't find any BSPs for this device, which means applications written for it typically run "bare metal". Much LabVIEW functionality is lost when no operating system is available.

Thanks Michael

What does BSp mean?

I have IAR Embedded Workbench software. Is it possible to generate C codes by using labview and then download the codes to CC2431 through IAR?

Thanks

Hong

BSP means board support package. Before you concern yourself with generating C code from LabVIEW, I recommend that you make sure you can compile, link, download, and run a simple C application on your target (with an OS). Again, in my opinion, the CC2431 lacks the resources to be a good LabVIEW Embedded target.

Thank you guys, kevin_S, Michael,

your information is of great help,  I've learned a lot from both of you and I really appreciate that.

I have bought that board and installed LabView to it, both of them are working perfect.

I think I'm getting closer and closer to the success of my project

Hi Kevin,

Did it means that Labview for ARM can be support by any RealView Microcontroller Development Kit (MDK) version?

After install newer MDK of Keil, how to do setting labview to link MDK?

Thanks

ChinJohn,

The LabVIEW Embedded Module for ARM Microcontrollers supports the version of the Keil MDK that it ships with, which as of today is version 3.62.
