Public Source Control Server

Would it be useful to have a server at NI or elsewhere that would let you collaborate on plug-ins? For example, I created a target for LabVIEW Embedded running on a Linksys WRT54G. I could just .zip up the target and docs and put it on an FTP server so other people could get it. Alternately, I could put it up on a CVS or Subversion server and not only let you folks get it but also make improvements to it.

In a more abstract sense; could we agree to use something like VMWare and do a common 'known-good' install of the whole tool chain? I do my LV Embedded work in a VMWare session. When I go home and need to work on it, I have the whole installation vs two installs with differences. My host PC isn't polluted with beta code, MSVC, and a temp copy of Tornado...

As a group works on a LinkSys target, everyone gets the same install down to the OS.

Food for thought, what do you all think?
