Hi everyone. I have a problem with my Speedy33. Why can't I listen back my recorded voice which I recorded through external microphone (which found with a headphone) which is connected at the audio in port. However, I can listen the recorded voice if I record my voice using the built-in microphone though the sound is very soft. I have to connect an external speaker (which has a power supply) in order for me to have a better recorded voice level. Is it because of my audio in port has an error. Can anyone teach me what can I do in order to overcome this problem.
thank you in advance for your replies.

It sounds like you have the gains setup incorrectly. Check out this KnowledgeBase on how to change the jumper settings on the Speedy-33 for better audio volume recording (ftp://custed:1029updatecenitrc@ftp.ni.com/). I would also go through the manual (https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/371577d/resource/371577d.pdf) to understand the theory behind the two settings and also a great reference for troubleshooting. Let me know if this was helpful. 🙂

Hi G-Money,
Thank you for your advice. But to share with you guys, my colleague and I have already change the jumper setting according to the NI SPEEDY 33 manual but it is not working. If I am not wrong,as I mentioned earlier, the audio output will produce a sound if I connect a MP3 or CD player to the audio input port. So now what I am trying to do is to input the voice through notebook built in microphone and playback the sound so that the output of the notebook audio output will be the input to the SPEEDY33. It is kinda silly to do that 🙂 So now I am still figure out how can I directly record the sound using microphone that is connected to the audio input port on the Speedy33.
Any other suggestion from others? I am really appreciate if there is any other solution that may help me.
thank you so much everyone

From the manual, I see that there are two choices for audio input. Either you can choose the built in microphones on the Speedy 33 or you can plug an external source to the line input. If you are using a CD player for your input, did you make sure to select line input for your source? I expect yes but it is always good to check 🙂 Is the Speedy connected using the USB while you are checking this audio input? I am trying to think of reasons as to why the volume level would be low and a bad power supply (USB bus powered) might cause this. If you do connect it using the USB, can you see the signals coming in on the PC graphs? There might also be a bad connection somewhere that is causing this. After exhausting all troubleshooting, you might consider calling NI and seeing if you can get it repaired (It depends on the warranty). Hope this gets us in the right direction.

Hi G-Money,
Thank you once again. I also do not so sure what is the problem. But yesterday, when I played around with the SPEEDY33 and the Sound Recorded project, I accidently solved the problem. I managed to listen to my voice (through headphone) when I speak out (it sounds like echo) and I also managed to listen to my recorded voice (to do this I have to modify the sound recorder.vi but adding amplification). So, temporarily the problem is solved..
Thx a lots!!
