If you look at the LabVIEW Forum, there are a lot of posts concerning "How to get file version from EXE" and similar.
LabVIEW as a nice LLB for that, but it is not on Palette and no documentation.
c:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2012\vi.lib\Platform\fileVersionInfo.llb
Bring that LLB to Palette.
