Colour box Constant menu position is a bit unusual

Status: Declined

National Instruments will not be implementing this idea for the following reasons:

1. There are no further palette reorganizations planned for LabVIEW.

2. There is a 'Color Functions' palette in LabVIEW NXG containing all color-related diagram objects.

3. The Color Box Constant can be easily dropped with Quick Drop in LabVIEW (and it has a default object shortcut of 'cbc' in LabVIEW 2016 and later).

4. We have plans to improve the 'Create Constant' experience on terminals that contain color data in a future LabVIEW version.

Can somebody explain to me why the Colour box control is on the Numeric Palette as a control but as a constant it's on the Dialog & User Interface Palette???

It doesn't matter HOW many times I look for the Colour box constant on the Numeric palette and then move to the Dialog & User Interface palette, I NEVER learn.

Please please move the constant to the Numeric palette where it belongs.

Shane.

The color box constant can also be found on the "picture functions" palette. 😉

The need for a color box constant could be nearly eleminated if all functions and property nodes that accept a color value would actually have a color control as default connector.

(Currently, creating a constant on one of these inputs gives a plain U32 constant instead. (try e.g. with a cursor color" property node). Maybe I'll make that into a new idea....)

If I recall correctly, the color box constant was on the numeric palette in LabVIEW 7.1 and earlier.  It was moved to the Dialog and User Interface palette in 8.0 to makes its location more "intuitive".  😉

Thankfully, I don't have to remember where it is when I use Quick Drop... 🙂

I worked with LV 6.1 for MANY years and it's probably the reason why I keep thinking it should be on the Numeric palette......

At the very leas it should be on the same palette as Control and Constant, right?
