Configure Icon

Right-clicking on the edge of a structure such as a Case Structure, Loop, Event Structure… works, but it is not intuitive for new LabVIEW users. I personally struggle with lining up the mouse just right. Double-clicking on an Express VI for configuring also is not 100% obvious. Some functions, such as the Array to Cluster and To FXP, are mysterious and few would know it could be configured.

I would suggest adding a configure icon that shows up during edit mode. This would help me as an advanced user. It would also make LabVIEW more inviting and intuitive to new users.

It may be clunky in some places but nice in others. Maybe you could turn it off in Tools>>Options…

Cheers!

Something like a magnetic "snap mouse to border" would to the trick, IMO (as many NLE have implemented in the recent past). Maybe add the option to activate it (or deactivate it) with a key press if you are into compact and cluttered diagrams...

That's for the lining up problem.

As far as guessing what are the hidden features of an object (if any), there probably should have been a graphical cue from day 1. It might be bit late to change the color scheme of "feature-rich" functions versus plain vanilla ones, or "expandable" versus non expandable ones, etc...

I am not too keen with the idea of yet another mouse glyph to tab through (I am not using auto-select tool).

Thanks for the thoughts X. "yet another mouse glyph" I agree with this. Perhaps the icon only shows upwhen your mouse is over the object?

Most LabVIEWers (I think) use the auto-select tool and configureing the right "thing" is clunky. Thanks again!
