Faster wiring of similar functions

Status: Declined
Functionality already exists in LabVIEW. Auto-wiring option must be enabled though.

Many times there is a need to wire up a chain of sub-VIs that are all from the same toolkit or class.   They have a common reference and error cluster flowing through them.   It would be great to have function where I could select all the sub-VIs and with one click have them auto-wired.   This would dramatically cut down on the number of mouse clicks.

I'd be happy if the error cluster and reference would BOTH be automatically wired when I place subsequent nodes.

You could try using this - http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-8386 .

I can't comment on it, because I have my own version, but I assume it works the same and mine works exactly like what you want.

Jim, I believe that subsequent nodes are already wired automatically IF you have auto wiring enabled AND you drop the VI/primitive close enough to the existing one (I believe the default distance is on the order of 10 pixels).

Ah yes.  I had auto-wiring turned off for so many years (for different reasons) it didn't enter into the thought process.   Thanks for the reminder.
