Image for Splitters

Just like we can put any image as a pane background, it would be nice to be able to use an image for splitters.

If you are using an image for the panes, the splitters really stand out. You can try to match the color as closely as possible but if there is a gradient in the pane image, it just doesn't work. Here is an example that could really use an image for the splitters.

In this case these panes are used somewhat like column headers for a whole bunch of controls/indicators below. If the splitters had the same image as the pane, they would be invisble and the FP would look cleaner.

The first idea would solve the example that I shared, but I want to do some other things with splitter images as well.

If you want to let a user click on a splitter and move it in one direction to minimize a pane, a splitter image could indicate the direction. The example image below is from Macromedia Dreamweaver.

In the past I've created this effect by using two adjacent splitters and putting a boolean with an arrow shaped decal. This works for the programatic moving of the two splitters for the desired behavior, but if the user tries to manually move the splitters, they get in each other's way.
