Improving the Context help for the beginner

Hi, it would be nice if one could get the "path" to the functionspalett when hovering the mouspointer over a function.

Even if you pretty much know where to go into the functionspalette, I at least, get stuck everytime, when I want to recreate something similar to the code that I've found, because I cannot find the functions that are used.

I often have to copy paste from an existing code because I cannot find it in the Functionspalett.

See the attached picture. Where do I find the error input terminal? I found the I/O terminal, but that was from the Frontpanel palette.

Have searched for the waveform-terminal for over 15 minutes, still haven't found it..

Kindest regards,

There are no FP terminals in the Functions palettes. You won't find them. Terminals are created either by dropping front panel controls or by popping up on a wire or a node's terminal on the diagram and selecting "Create Control" or "Create Indicator".

Laskar01's example might not be the greatest, but the core aspect of his idea is still valid. Sometimes I'll download a VI from the forums, either as an example to myself or to try to help others, but they use a node that I've never seen before. Context help provides the name of the function, so it can be found using quick drop, but makes no mention of where it is in the functions palette. You can find the owning palette if you open up the detailed help, but where is that owning palette located?

I think it would be beneficial to have a tree structure inside the Context Help that provides the information that links the node all the way back to a core palette (Programming, Instrument I/O, etc.)

If that makes the Context Help box too large, then the tree should at least be in the detailed help for that function.

The only problem we run to is that the same VI can exist in multiple palettes... Which do we choose?

When you open the palettes, you get a search button in the top right corner, which works the same as the QD search, but also points you to the specific palette.
