Invisible splitters in running mode ... Splitter shadow in edit mode ...

Status: New

Hello,

Sometimes it should be nice to be abble to hide Splitters in the front panel editor, like a "Hide control/Indicator".Smiley Happy

For example if you want to create autogrowable/autoresizeable applications you have to use splitters in order to use the "Fit control to pane/Scale object with pane" functionnalities. If the splitters have to be "Locked" and not moveable by users ... you can't completly hide them.

PS : I hate the completly hidden controls in edit mode Smiley Mad . I would prefer to have such a kind of "Splitter shadow" during edition mode. In run mode the splitters will then be completly hidden.

Does this idea, or the one it links to, cover what you want?

Hello tst,

Your link cover only one part of my need : The ability to view clearly the splitters in edit mode.

I would also need to hide completly some spiltters in run mode.

The splitters i want to hide are those only created for autogrow purpose.

The splitters which can be moved by users must be visible ... but others not necessarly.

The problem is that when you want your front panels to "Autogrow" with windows resize, spiltters moving ... the only automatic way to build such a kind of application is by using splitters. (Or to do it by yourself ... But it's not a good idea)

In a pane you only have the choice to use once the "Fit control to pane/Scale object with pane". If you want to "autogrow" more than one control/indicator, you have to multiply the number of splitters ! And this kind of splitters are to be hidden !

I think that the problem link to this, is that Labview doesn't have enough Docking and Anchoring features like in DotNet, Java ...

Advance docking and anchoring features in LabVIEW

Thanks for your answer.

I believe this idea covers the first half of your idea - http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW-Idea-Exchange/Allow-0pixel-size-splitter-bars/idi-p/1229909

Hello tst,

you're right ... my idea should be a duplicate one !

I just discuss this morning with my coleagues (PGM work team) ... and they say me that a splitter could be made invisible when using a "Classic" splitter and by simply paint it with the background color (Thanks Cyril). So it is possible to hide a splitter, but not for all splitters styles.

Thanks for your searches ...
