Make Snippets work with Google Chrome

Status: Declined
In CAR database. CAR 292652

Snippets do not currently work with the Google Chrome web browser. It only displays the file URL.

The work around is to save the Snippet to your computer and then drag the .png image to the block diagram, which essentially defeats the puropse of the Snippet.

The Idea is to make the drag-and-drop ability of snippets work with Google Chrome.

The number of website servers that cheat images these days is quite high such that snippets from the web are rarely functional. The servers rewrite the images into new file formats, and the metadata info is cast aside in the process. Most such sites have some way to get the original image, but there's usually a lot of hoop jumping involved.

I'm glad I found the hack I mentioned before.

Click the image, then drag % drop the download button.

That's only one click more (two if you include closing the image) than directly drag & dropping the image.

Why doesn't this work after all these years?
