Make Tip strip of controls & Indicator to empty (default) when copied

Status: Declined

Now when we copy & paste a control/Indicator, It Tip strip is also copied to the new control/Indicator. It will be good if the Tip strip is made empty if controls/Indicators are copied & pasted.

Thanks,

Nanda

I don't like this idea.

If I'm copying a control, then I want all attributes of it to be copied, not just selected ones.  Otherwise it isn't truly a copy.

Suppose I do want the tip strip info to be copied, then what would I have to do, edit the properties of every copy of the control and type it back in?

Sometimes there are differences between cut and paste and Ctrl-Drag copying, so there is a way to have it both ways. Personally, I am with RF and would expect this to be copied no matter what.

Each and every controls/Indicators represent individual purpose which will be included in the tip strip and as a outlook(Aesthetic) they may be common.

I'm firmly in the "a copy of an object inherits all attributes" camp myself.  First because that is the expected behavior, second because I would need to remember what properties copied and what ones did not.  A long and confusing list that would have me swearing at the end of every daySmiley Frustrated

so please sirs and maams don't change the copy- paste or the ctrl+drag drop (I STILL get confused with the copy/paste and Ctrl+DnD differences on clones and vi server referances)
