Modify refnum icon to indicate reference to typedef

I'd really like the blackened left-upper corner that you see on control icons to also be present on refnums if they point to a control that is a typedef...

This has the additional benefit (besides just being helpful) of letting you know if you accidentally diconnected the typedef and the refnum is no longer typedef-constrained...

Basically this would take effect when you drop a typedef'd control on the refnum...

I thought that's what was being asked for here, but I get the impression that is a different Idea. And I've already had some push back on other ideas that would make the front panel at edit time look different from the front panel at run time... people who already don't like the alignment grid and the drop shadows who don't want that noise getting worse. So I suspect there would be some debate.

I've got a solution for you: Options!

Yeah... that would be exactly the sort of thing that you probably don't really want to be in Options. I know I wouldn't want anyone to have that option. If I expect to see a triangle to indicate a typedef and

  • someone sends me a screen shot or
  • I am buddying code on someone else's machine or
  • I just installed LV on a new machine and haven't copied my config file

then I'm going to think there's no typedef there. Options settings for semantically significant items make it very hard to understand a visual language. It's exactly why we don't do things like config options for what color to make an integer wire.
