I submitted this idea before the exchange existed (I didn't even know CVI already has it). I had a customer who required me to code this for their configuration setup. I probably had 100 or more setup variables which I had to have events for with a dialog box to notify they entered a bad value.
They did not want me to automatically coerce it, as the value would not be what they typed in, and they wouldn't know why I did it.
If LabVIEW were to implement this, I would use this as the default behavior for entry. It just makes a lot of sense to let the user know they entered an invalid value instead of changing the value for them (or ignoring your limits and using whatever they entered).
