Processing Not A Number Value in Intensity Graph

Status: New

Intensity graph didn't process NaN values like other graphs.

For example, in chart or waweform graph NaN values are represented by a blank (or missing) point.

When we use intensity graph NaN values are represented as values less than low color Value. I think it's not a correct representation and it could produce misunderstandings for user.

I'd like that color for NaN value could be selected and customized  by the user.

I propose something like that :

Idea for a similar problem brianra suggested for 3D plots: 3D Plots Should Not Plot NaN as Zero. Since I have only used both types of plots only a handful of times, and I never was bitten by this shortcoming, I can't be gung-ho for this Idea, but I certainly agree with you out of principle.

I agree that something should be done, but I don't agree with the "NaN" color in the bottom of the color scale. The color (or pattern) should be not on the screen since you should never have a "NaN" number in "normal calculations".

Manzolli, good point, that does seem bothersome. Allow the color of NaN to be custom set via PN, but just don't display it on the color ramp scale.

Wouldn't it make more sense (and be consistent with Waveform Graphs) for NaNs to be displayed as transparent?  Then if you must have some garish colour to show NaN, you can change the background of the graph.

I have exploited the transparent NaN's by purposefully inserting them into XY Graphs, so I could certainly see the same benefit for Intensity Graphs.

I accept with greg. Feel transparent nan as a nice option

If i propose to customize color of NaN value it's because i've already 2 customers that need this options.

They want to find the best color to contrast their result in their customized Z-scale and non tested values (NaN) for a good mapping (Test on chip Application for microtechnology). I really propose this idea because i was blocked twice in my project. Maybe the NaN color must be chosen in another place, but i think it's cool if we are allowed to change it !
