Property Node: Link-to

Status: Declined

When you right click a property node and open the menu, then go to link-to (to link to a different object on your front panel), it would be nice if you could just start typing the name of the indicator/control instead of having to scroll through them.  If you have a lot of front panel indicators/controls then this becomes very tedious and time consuming, and being able to quickly narrow down which control/indicator you want to link to would speed up the process greatly..

To a degree, this already exists - if the list has focus, pressing a button will take you to the first object which matches that letter, so at least now you're in the general area you need to be.

That said, this doesn't work if you don't remember the exact name of the control or if you have nested controls, so even though I don't usually have the need for this, I agree with the basic sentiment of the idea. I think it's an extension of the same concept that this idea suggests - LV should allow us to narrow down long lists and hierarchies by searching.

Incidentally, for this specific idea it should be relatively easy to write a JKI RCF plugin to do this, and to demonstrate that, here's a modification of the VI from the other thread which does this.
