Quickdrop. Everyone has their list of shortcuts for highly used items. Then there is the grey area. Things that are used a lot but not enough that you would remember a shortcut.
For that grey area, I typically type until I see the item. Now I have the choice:
I find each a little cumbersome compared to what could happen.
When I'm coding, I tend to be in a flow. I use the same area of pallette objects over and over until I finish a particular thought. So, if I'm working on a QMH, I'm going to be placing a lot of "Enqueue Message" and not "Enqueue Element". I start typing "enq".
It would be nice if LabVIEW had the option to sort the list and bring that to the top so all I had to do is type "enq" and hit enter. (suspension of disbelief in this example for people who have extensive shortcut lists)
So, what I'm suggesting is match the string, then list the most recently used item on top. Followed by items that match the string and are on the same pallette as a VI you placed with quickdrop (optional).
All of this can be enabled/disabled in the "Configure..." button under the "Options" tab.
