Rejuvenate the "Rearrange Case" window of the Event Structure

Status: New

As described here, the Event Structure has a few interface issues. One of which is that the "Rearrange Case" Dialog window is not resizable, and the "Complete selector string" has no scrollbar:

If you have dozens of cases, some of which may contain a dozen different events, this is a nightmare to use.

Don't get me started on the way you can rearrange cases only by dragging and dropping one at a time (ever heard of alphabetical sorting for instance?)!

Thanks for reading.

The OCR solution for getting the Event Cases is certainly a very clever hack that I have the upmost respect for, unfortunately I doubt that a selector string long enough to overrun the dialog indicator would appear in its entirety on the Event Selector Label.

When I encounter something like this I often wish that there was an alternate interface where multiple Selector Labels could link to a single frame.  The pulldown menu could be hierarchical, the main menu would show the event label for frames with single events and Frame # with a submenu for frames linked to multiple events.  A similar approach could apply to Case Structures as well to eliminate the visualization problem with multiple enum values in a label (they show up as a range which may not be the most obvious).

Keep them (suggestions) coming...

Note that already being able to SEE the cases would help me in the particular situation/bug having spawned this thread (still no acknowledgments from NI that this is a bug though).

Hmmm. I did not react to the "OCR" sentence initially but I now understand what Darren is talking about... I think that would be a problem in the case of (many) multiple events that I illustrated the original thread with.

Even in the "working" case of the Case Structure, I found out a little detail:

Oops! The cell is not large enough and I can't resize it! Luckily there is a tool tip to read the cell content! Smiley Wink

Oh well, another argument for NI to sit and think about this interface from scratch.

Another reason why NI should get to work on this dialog: Rearrange-Case-Bug-when-using-enum

Please seriously consider the ability of selecting multiple items (Ctrl or Shift Click) and drag/dropping the group at once.
