Remove arcane items from Quick Drop

I love quick drop, its great and everyone should try it. BUT: try it with Darren's shortcuts, not the defaults LV comes with.

I cringe when I am using another PC at a client and I do CTRL-space to invoke quick drop and they have not got it configured to load at startup, as this normally causes LV to grind to a halt for 30 seconds or so. This feels like a lifetime when the customer is peering over your shoulder and you are billing by the hour!

The vast majority of the time I drop something using quick drop, it is using Darren's shortcuts. I don't really see the need for things like Laplace transform* and hundreds of other seldom used primitives to clog up the quick drop. Having everything in quick drop slows it down at launch time, and makes it less usable in my opion.

How about an option to remove the build in quick-drop items? Or to only display ones that are listed in the LV.ini file.

*Disclaimer: I am sure there is someone out there who uses the Laplace transform daily, I mean you no offense!

OK, I'll vote for the spirit idea, but not for the suggested implementation of this idea. The spirit of this idea: "make QD come up REALLY fast for those of us who use it mainly for the shortcuts". Whether you remove the arcane items or not, it doesn't matter to me. If QD comes up with a million items but it only takes 50msec, excellent.

I feel like removing the obscure items is kind of defeating the purpose.  I use quick drop to drop things that I don't know the palette location of.  If these weren't in quick drop I'd waste all my time looking through the palettes.

elset191, I am not proposing to remove the quick drop functionality completely. For my style of coding though, its just a Pareto principle, but not 80-20 its something like 95-5. There are probably 20 or 30 primitives I use all the time, the rest I may touch once a month or something like that.

I have not counted, but I estimate over 1000 items in the quick drop. Scroll down the list (with its teensy tiny scroll drag bar), its not really manageable to visually search for anything.

How about the ability to change the order of the list?  Put the things you use the most at the top but keep the ability to scroll the entire list.

I think Quick Drop should allow you to drop all possible objects in LabVIEW, but I would love if we could have it be instantly usable on first launch, without having to go change our Tools > Options settings for palette launching.  I think I'll propose a separate Idea Exchange entry on that.  Unfortunately, the fix for this would be in the palette code (not the Quick Drop code), which is why I'm unable to just do it myself...

Ok, I went ahead and posted a new idea to eliminate Quick Drop's initial launch delay.
