Selector Label narrow wide clean up

Status: Declined

Any idea that has received less than 5 kudos within 5 years after posting will be automatically declined.

When cleaning up the diagram automatically, make structures (case s, disabled s, stacked sequence s.) fit to their own selector label(s), if necessary -- otherwise fit to content. Currently, the small (very empty) structures shrink to the smallest width to fit the programmatic content (the icons), but ignores the selector label length. Below, it should be displayed "own laboratory (number 2)" in the label, instead of "own lab" only.

Thank you for considering the idea!

I can imagine this idea collecting a lot of kudos. I wonder how many kudos would be collected for the idea "Maintain the status quo: When cleaning a diagram, size to the minimum bounds around the contents, regardless of the selector text width". Having the opposing kudos count would be useful data in this case.

This might work for many case structures but would be a disaster for most event structures I've seen. And there's many enum case structures that would have problems. My personal feeling would be to oppose this idea, but I have no idea how the idea would go over with the community at large. It'll be interesting to see how the kudos count develops.

Since this setting would depend on the OS font settings, I say no.

Could this be implemented like the Checkbox for AutoGrow?

I can definitely think of case structures where I would want this and I can definitely think of Event Structures where I wouldn't.

I kudo AristoQueue's comment.  I only want it to show code.  I don't want the structure blowing up because of long case names, or because the case handles multiple items.

So no kudo to this idea.

If I want to see the full case name, I'll click on it. The tool tip giving the case name as opposed to just saying the useless "Selector Label" would be helpful.
