Should any VI ignore the error cluster input and execute normally anyway?
There are good reasons for some VIs to behave that way, i.e. if they close files or references.
Discussions about this topic are going on.
For standard NI VIs information about the already implemented behaviour is not obviuos, neither on the frontpanel nor in the context help.
You have to delve down into the detailed help to read this:
I propose to introduce a marker at the error input of a VI's Icon if this VI ignores errors.
This would make it much easier to understand the behaviour of a VI in case of error by just looking at the block diagram.
It could look much like the coercion dot, of course with a different color. Any suggestions? Green? Consider colorblindness!
Perhaps combine the marker with this idea. Not all VIs may have the option to enable/disable error behaviour.
