System splitter bars that look like a system chiseled line

Status: New

I recently saw an example by an NI employee of how you can design a task bar in your VI by using splitter bars - and were puzzled to see that she used two splitter bars with a System Chiseled Line in between set to scale with the panel. Why not just use a single splitter bar and set it to a width of 4 pixels?

Well - the reason of course is that LabVIEW splitter bars do not really appear the way such splits look in other applications. To get a more standard look you have to apply this trick.

In most use cases a splitter bar that, instead of todays design, looked like a system line, and which could alternatively be made invisible, would be a welcome solution.

Can you post the link to the example you are speaking of?  Perhaps also an screenshot of what the splitter bar looks like.

Your idea might gather more votes with some graphics to go along with the idea.  It's not like LabVIEW programmers really need graphics or are visual programming type of people.  Smiley Wink

More generically: I would just like to be able to customize the splitter and import whatever graphic I want. Kudos.

This is Christina's post. You might notice that I also based an idea on her post (and even stole her graphics).

This is what the splitter bar looks like:

Here is an illustration of today's splitter bar versus the look I'm aiming for it to have (without having to use Christina's trick):
