Trigger XControls for Dynamic Events

Status: Declined

National Instruments will not be implementing this idea. There is no further feature development planned for XControls.

Currently, XControls do not trigger ("wake up") for dynamic events, even if the event structure is registered for them.  My suggestion is simply that they do.

Yea, Yes and Yes again.  But I'm pretty sure this ahs been suggested before.

I just had this problem, so I'll post this thread where Jack provided me with a good workaround.

@Intaris: I certainly can't find other suggestions!  There are a few on defining user events in XControls, but nothing on triggering on them.

@elset191: Yep, that's the thread I linked to Smiley Happy

Here is something similar ...

Oh, I didn't even see that there was a link in your post.  I need a new monitor that shows more than 2 colors.

Completely agreed.  It can be done with the method linked above, but it's such a pain and a wonky work-around.  I started making a community example that showed how to do it once, but after a few hours of trying to make it work right, I decided it wasn't worth it.

Is this idea a duplicate of the one linked by manu.NET?

If so I will mark this as duplicate and I encourage you all to vote for the other idea.

No I don't think they're the same, although there is discussion in the comments of the other idea as to what that one really means!  I read the idea by manu.NET as asking for the XControl to return events to its hosting VI, whereas this idea is specifically asking for the XControl to be triggered by dynamic (user-defined) events.  However I do support both ideas!

This is not a duplicate, even though I initially thought it was.
