right-click a control to create reference control

Status: Declined

Any idea that has received less than 2 kudos within 2 years after posting will be automatically declined. 

I know we can right-click>create a reference to a control then right-click>create control for that reference. I suggest removing the middle step and allowing us to create a reference control directly from the control.

There's got to be a Quick Drop shortcut for that!

Is this so you can get that control onto a subVI? If so, you can just drag the reference from the block diagram onto the front panel of the subVI. The drop onto the subVI will create a matching reference control.

It's still an extra step that would not be needed if you could simpy have a choice to create>reference control.

I like the idea:

  Right-Click to the terminal: the context menu should remain like it is in the moment

  Right-Click to the control: the context menu should offer (additionally) "create reference control"
