tablet interface

I've just completed porting my first Labview App to a Windows 7 tablet. It runs OK, but there are some real issues with designing the interface. I designed the thing on a laptop and thought I had done a reasonable  job of sizing the interface. Well, maybe not. Controls, such as numeric edits and drop downs don't work very well if you have to use your finger to activate them as opposed to a mouse. I had to create some custom controls to get the sizing right, but how well those will work in another app is open to comment. Having to make a lot of custom controls to get the sizing right doesn't seem like the way forward. Then there is the whole issue of swiping and other tablet based operations. It would be really nice if there was something that would allow you to test out a tablet like interface on a more conventional computer, even if all it did was help get the sizing right. Also it would be nice if there was a way to make the keyboard pop up for text entry. Most tablets even provide context sensitive keyboards. As tablets are here to stay, it would be nice if Labview had the stuff to make designing their interfaces easy.

Does the touchscreen module provide any of this? I think it provides larger controls and similar for just the reasons you're describing. Whilst I'm not sure about any swipe interactions anywhere at present, basic buttons, strings, numerics have been catered to for quite a while as I understand it. I've not used that functionality myself, so I may be overestimating what it can do, but it might be worth checking out and focussing on which aspects need tweaking for use in a tablet as an idea as I believe that the main interfacing is covered.

The whole issue of the "APP" of LabVIEW, for different operating systems, Android, W8, IOS. are a topics  very new, I guess that would improve their performance as they increase their use

Not certain, which touchscreen module you are referring to. A search of the NI site using "Touchscreen" only came up with two modules both dating back to 2006. IPads and other modern tablets date back to 2009 (according to wikipedia).

One thing is to develop an application in LabVIEW with W8 where their applications are not called APP's, these are still called VI's, and another to work with the module "NI LabVIEW Touch Panel", which is a module for only one type of device specifically with touchscreens usually with OS "Windows CE" or "Windows Embebbed" , are totally different things.
