Cannot activate the community edition.

The issue with activating LabVIEW 2024 Q1 Community Edition should now be fixed.

Note that if you downloaded it earlier, you will need to start to download it again in order to add the entitlement to your account.

Here is a copy of my post from another thread, and hopefully it will help someone.

Here are the steps that work. (at least for me)

Please note that this applies to a Windows installation, though some steps will apply to other flavors.

  • Use a browser without any filtering.

Pitfall 💣 The first mistake I made was to try to do this using Brave, which is my everyday browser. Since I'm on a Windows box, I opened MS Edge.

  • Start here on the LabVIEW Community Edition page. It has the embedded video of @Darren
  • Click on the "DOWNLOAD NOW" button
  • From the resulting menu that appears, select LabVIEW Community Edition
  • You should now be at the LabVIEW Download Detail Page

Pitfall 💣 Be sure to set the "Included Editions" radio button to "Community". It is not selected by default.

  • Set the "Included Editions" radio button to "Community".
  • The gray box on the right-hand side should now read "LabVIEW ... Community"
  • Press the green Download button
  • Note than an .iso file downloads, not a small installer stub executable. If the .iso file is not downloading, you have the wrong version.

Side note: Per Christina on this post, if you've already downloaded the iso file and you don't have the Community Edition associated with your NI account (maybe you used a browser with filtering), just pressing the green Download button and canceling the download will associate the Community Edition with your NI account.

  • At this time, it's a good idea to go over to My Products and verify that the Community Edition license shows up. If it doesn't, try repeating this process with a different browser that has no filtering of any kind enabled. If you already have the iso file downloaded, there's no need to download it again. Start the download, but then cancel it.
  • Go to the file location of the downloaded iso file and mount it by double clicking on it.
  • Run Install.exe and follow the NI Package Manager installer wizard
  • When the installation completes, an "Activate Software" window appears. Select the option that checks your account for licenses.
  • If all is successful, there should be a single line with LabVIEW Community Edition under a "1 ACTIVATED" heading.
  • Close the window by pressing the Finish button.
  • Reboot if you want
  • Run LabVIEW. There should be no prompt for license activation.
