Shortcut initiated modifications don't mark VI as edited

I'm noticing that the shortcut plugins don't mark the VI as modified. For example:

  1. Create a new VI
  2. Drop a numeric control
  3. Save the VI
  4. Right click and select "Change to Array"
  5. Close VI and marvel at the lack of save dialog

I'm not seeing the behavior you describe. I do notice that the VI does not get a dirty dot in the window title, but when I close the VI, I get prompted to save. I tried in both LabVIEW 2015 and 2016.

Make sure your VI is set to "separate compiled code from source file".

Ah, now I can reproduce it. CAR 643158 filed.

In case I run into trouble with this, has this CAR been addressed?

Barring any unforeseen issues, the CAR should be fixed in LabVIEW 2018.
