Bluetooth issue (works with NXT-G, but not LabView)

Hi there,

I have bluetooth issue between my LabView and my NXT. I use WIDCOMM for my bluetooth dongle. My bluetooth communication works fine when I use the software from Mindstorms (NXT-G). More specific, I can use Bluetooth to receive some messages. The point is, I can see my NXT device via NXT-G software, but I can't see any bluetooth device when I try to connect via LabView.

I just thought that since NXT-G was created based on LabView, then it should be also able to see my NXT ?

Could someone explain me ?

Thank you.

Here are a couple of things to try.  I am assuming you are using Windows, but the same suggestions are valid for Mac OS.

  1. Make sure MINDSTORMS NXT is closed before opening and attempting to connect in LabVIEW.
  2. In LabVIEW use the NXT Terminal Tools»NXT Tools»NXT Terminal....  From the drop down at the top of the window select  Find NXT....   Click the Scan button.  If nothing is found attempt the scan again.  Once your NXT device is listed click Connect.
  3. If you still cannot connect remove the instance of your NXT in your Windows Bluetooth Device manager.  Once the instance has be removed reopen LabVIEW and attempt the connection again.
These Bluetooth connection issues are a headache for sure, but we are always attempting to do whatever we can to improve them.  Let me know if one (or none) of these suggestions work.

Cheers,
