Can't connect NXT neither via USB nor BT on Labview 8.6 on WinVista SP1 x32

Hi to all,

my problem is that I can't connect NXT via USB or BT with the NXT Terminal: It doesn't see the NXT and sometimes generates crash of Labview. The NXT is correctly recognized by Vista, butit seems some strange problem of the NXT Toolkit or particularly of the NXT terminal...

please help me...

It would help if you could provide a few more details about your specific problem.  You mention that LabVIEW sometimes crashes when the NXT Terminal window is open.  Do you get any information about where the crash might have occurred?  Any error codes?  What operations do you try in the window that lead to the crash?  Is fantom.dll on your system (probably in c:\windows\system32)?

Thanks for your reply: the Labview Crash occurs when I unplug and then plug the NXT via USB. The problem is that the NXT is impossible to find neither via USB or Bluetooth (fails the pairing). I think that the problem could be the driver, because the NXT works perfectly on Windows XP with Labview 8.6...

Could you post a screenshot of Device Manager with your NXT highlighted?

Perfect, thanks!  That screenshot confirms that the NXT is getting associated with the Fantom driver.  I was worried that perhaps Windows was associating some other USB driver with the NXT so that, while it showed up in Device Manager, it wasn't actually working correctly.  Your screenshot confirms that this is NOT the case.

I remembered something else the other day, though.  Are you running as an Administrator on your Vista computer?  My guess is probably not, and you probably aren't running LabVIEW as an administrator, either.  Vista has enhanced security requirements, and since you are running an older version of Fantom (1.0.2), it doesn't natively support Vista.  To get everything to work correctly, when you start LabVIEW, you should right click on the LabVIEW icon and select "Run as Administrator."  This will give LabVIEW all of the correct Vista permissions to communicate with the NXT.  Please try this and let us know if it helps.
