Newer LEGO/HiTechnic Sensors: Are they supported in the LabVIEW NXT Toolkit?

Specifically, I want to use the new Compass, Gyro, Acceleration, and IR Communication sensors with my NXT.  I found the NXT-G blocks available to download on the HiTechnic website.  But I like using LabVIEW to program my NXT.  Is there an updated NXT Toolkit or a patch for it that adds that functionality?

Thanks

The NXT-G blocks provided by the vendors seem to work just fine, even though some of them are locked and cannot be reviewed and/or editted. You may need to use the sub-vi of the main NXT-G block, but otherwise I've found no problems.

Unfortunately I need to retract my previous statement. I tried to use some of the locked HiTechnic blocks (Color sensor or Sub-VI, Compass Sensor or Sub-VI, etc). They place just fine as blocks, but when I try to download them, I get an NXT Error from the terminal, "Cannot open a VI because it is password protected".

I just found out about this recently, when I tried to actually use the blocks with the toolkit. I had assumed before that if they place ok, they are useable. I am trying to clear this with HiTechnic, since I need those blocks for student projects, but if there is a LabVIEW solution, I would appreciate a note.

I am using LabVIEW 8.5 and NXT Toolkit with the 1.0.1 patch (I think).

Cheers,

Alex

I'm using LabVIEW 2009 and I have no problem when using this VI. See that this 2009 release goes with a NXT Toolkit and the other VI are easy to set up and place in the function palette.

The only problem i'm dealing with is with the IRSeerker V2 VI. It seem it doesn't work, because I can't read any value, no value is shown in the front panel.

Hi, I have a similar problem with Hitechnic Accelerometer and Gyro sensor: I'm not able to recive data in real time, using Labview 2009 with the subvi I downloaded form Hitechnic's site.

It simply doesn't send any data to my pc.

I've tried to use the light sensor for the Gyro, and it returns some sort of data, but I don't know how to conver it into degrees/second.

Using the acelerometer is much more complicated: if I use the Ultrasonic sensor subvi, it returns only a part of the acceleration along the X-axis. Obviously I need data along all 3 axis.

Could you tell me how do you manage to use your sensors in labview 2009?

Thanks for all the answers!

Massimo
