Solved!
Go to solution

I am trying to install LabVIew 2009 on a windows 7 machine. I have installed Ni-DAQmx 9.1.1

Microsoft.Net framework 3.5.1 is checked as are Windows communication foundation HTTP activation and non-HTTP activation.

I still get SDK Function error code -12

Thanks Dave

Strange, this is usually an error that is seen when installing a version previous to LabVIEW 2009 on Windows 7.  I've never actually seen this with LabVIEW 2009.  See if the information from the following KnowledgeBase articles help even though they are written for 8.6 and earlier...

SDK Error Code -12 When Building a LabVIEW Installer or Installing LabVIEW

Windows SDK Error (-12) when Installing LabVIEW on Windows 7

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out last night. I had read the two articales you have sent. The one that suggests using the path to the D drive was the closet to helping. However I had to install using DOS commands (which I had not used since ~1991) many cd and dir later I got to the correct  exe install. I'm really disappointed with  this , the newest OS and LabView and headaches even before I start. Turning the .net on or off had no effect.

Thanks for you assist

Dave

Sorry that it was such a pain, but I'm glad to hear you got it working.  You don't happen to have the Kaspersky Internet Security suite, or a similar firewall package that might have blocked the installer from working?

I do not have Kaspersky The only firewall and security I have is Microsoft Security Essentails , I don't know if this may have been the problem or not

It's very possible.  In my experience one of LabVIEW's biggest enemies is the firewall.  There is a lot of networking going on behind the scenes that firewall's freak out thinking LabVIEW is the bad guy.  When in doubt, try disabling the firewall and try again.

Hi, VonLuck,

You should take into consideration that LabVIEW 8.6 and Windows 10 are not really compatible. Have you thought of upgrading your LabVIEW version?

You could also try using a virtual machine, but if you're using hardware it can get a bit messy.
