Recently I have been seeing the error code 201003 for both the USB-6009 (Serial No. 1507F02) and NI-9211 (Serial No. 14F47C1) when I try to run my LabVIEW vi.
It displays the following error message:
Error -201003 occurred at Test Panel
Possible Reason(s):
Device cannot be accessed. Possible causes:
Device is no longer present in the system.
Device is not powered.
Device is powered, but was temporarily without power.
Device is damaged.
Ensure the device is properly connected and powered. Turn the computer off and on again. If you suspect that the device is damaged, contact National Instruments at ni.com/support.
Device Specified: Dev2
It occurs for each device separately if only 1 is plugged in (this is how I know I get the same error message for both devices). While my code previously worked with these devices fine, an unknown error caused some shorts in the circuit both NI devices were conducting measurements on and I'm afraid they are damaged at the hardware level and are in need of repair.
I went through all forums I could find with related error codes or related devices and none seem to suggest this is a device hardware problem..
However, when I try both devices on another computer they result in the same error message. Also, I tried most solutions suggested on the forums to no avail.
I need to know if these devices could potentially be damaged and what should my next steps be?
Thanks,
drew

Drew,
Well you blew up something!
First see if the devices show up in MAX if so Can they be reset? do they pass the self-test.
Next try a different USB port- it may be the PC's HUB that was damaged and not both of your devices
Next try a known good device on the USB port. Is the port OK?
Check the ports available power from the hardware manager
IF the port is OK then its time to call NI/support- BUT- I would suggest you look into figuring out what caused the problem in the first place- to prevent a re-occurance.

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for the quick reply! So unfortunately it's definitely not the USB port, same results in multiple ports and the suspect USB supplies power to optical mouse no problem...
Been having a hard time with MAX though. Actually, since I've been getting these errors I was able to replace the 9211 with a spare. It works fine (which is another sign that the other 9211 and 6009 are done for), but I can't find either devices in the devices and interfaces configuration tree or any of the other categories in MAX (View->Refresh does not help).
However, I can see both devices in Windows device manager. I tried un-installing both devices, unplugging them and then plugging them back in one at a time so they are re-installed. Then I made sure both drivers were up to date. But still no luck with MAX.
On a side note the working 9211, and the supposedly broken 9211 and 6009 all show blinking green LEDs once plugged in.
I suppose my next step will be to re-install MAX, or try and update it. I'll post again if anything changes.. I went ahead and emailed NI support just to speed up the process.
Thanks again for your help!
