If you have already installed the f2 patch, then you need to do the repair installation of the LabVIEW software to "undo" the f2 patch.
Then you can install the f3 patch.

That's a tiny bit scary. What if you've updated other aspects of your LabVIEW install - that will undo those also, right? (The only reason it's only a tiny bit scary is that I I'm thinking that the f-patches are the ONLY updates available.)

Hello all, I am going to try and clear up some confusion

Does f2 patch need to be installed prior to installing f3 patch? Or does f3 patch include f2 stuff?
You can install the f3 patch directly. There is no need to install the f2 patch, the f3 patch includes all of the fixes that were in the f2 patch.

Installing the f2 patch can cause certain files to be deleted as Fred mentioned above, breaking the runtime engine. If you installed the f2 patch before it was withdrawn you can install the f3 patch without doing a repair install and it will repopulate the missing files if they were removed.

Never mind. I responded before seeing all the replies.

Thanks Jeff.
It might be a good idea to broadcast the fact that it is not necessary to install the f2 patch. 🙂

First of all, you should have started a new thread. This has nothing to do with the f2 patch.
Secondly, many of the toolkits are only released for the 32-bit version of LabVIEW. This is likely one of them. Therefore it will only work with LabVIEW 32-bit. You can have 32-bit LabVIEW run on a 64-bit machine.

It is a toolkit, so it cannot run on its own, meaning you also need LabVIEW. If you think you have LabVIEW installed, it is possible that you accidentally only installed the 64bit version.
You are confusing the OS bitness with the LabVIEW bitness. Typically you would use LabVIEW 32 bit on windows 64bit, especially if you need exotic toolkits. It is very rare that you would need the address space of 64bit LabVIEW. 32 bit LabVIEW actually runs better on 64bit Windows compared to 32 bit windows, because it can fully use 4GB of memory.
The readme for the toolkit clearly states: "System requirements: LabVIEW 2012 Full or Professional Development System (32-bit)"
If you haven't done so, also install LabVIEW 32 bit. (you can have both installed if you want, same license).
(If you still have problems, please start a new thread and don't add a question to the end of an unrelated thread that is already marked a s solved, as you did here)
