3D Picture Control Crashes LabVIEW

Solved!
Go to solution

Hello again

I appreciate you may not have had time to act on my previous post, but I have looked into your laptop specifications and you do have the latest driver. Could you please confirm that this is your laptop and you have the standard Intel graphics card as shown on the spec sheet.

Do you have other laptops of the same spec within your department/office? Does the 3D controller work on these machines?

Another thing you may like to try is repairing LabVIEW using the repair mode on the install disk?

Please let me know how this goes.

Yes - I can confirm that the graphics card is the standard Intel HD Graphics driver (which I believe is part of the processor).

I have tried shutting down all unnecessary programs and features (e.g. anti-virus etc.) and the problem still occurs. I have also tried opening the example VI from windows (instead of having LabVIEW open first) and there is no difference.

I will however try repairing it now.

Hi Sam

Do you have another E6510?

Thanks

I have just asked my colleague who has LabVIEW installed on exactly the same laptop (E6510) and the 3D Picture Control works fine for him. He is however using Labview 8.2, whereas I am using 2010.

Repairing LabVIEW did not fix the issue.

Hi Sam

I have looked into the error signature and have found that it is a fairly common application error and it is normally linked to memory access, but I have also been talking to a colleague who had a similar problem with an XP operating system, when he updated to Service Pack 3 there were OpenGL compatibility issues.

I have found this which may help you find the root of the problem, but make sure you have the newest version of OpenGL and all of your drivers are updated.

Thanks

Hello,

Unfortunately the only thing in that thread that was helpful was the OpenGL interceptor - however it would not attach to the LabVIEW executable to product error logs.

As for OpenGL - I have run a tool called DoctorGL which has produced the following output:

Video Card Vendor:    Intel
Renderer:             Intel(R) HD Graphics
OpenGL Version:       2.1.0 - Build 6.14.10.5258
GLU Version:          1.2.2.0 Microsoft Corporation

Hi Sam

As you know I have tried running the 3D VI's on LabVIEW 2010 and have come across no issues, and there doesn't seem to be issues on your colleagues E6510.

If you have the latest versions of directx, OpenGL and the drivers and have also repaired LabVIEW then the problem unfortunately, probably lies with your PC.

I recommend looking at the details of your colleagues PC to see if there are any differences other than the LabVIEW version as you know the 3D control works for them.

I hope this has been of some help

I have just installed a trial version of LabVIEW 8.2 - which is the same version that my colleague is using and I can use the 3D Picture control without any problems.

Surely this must mean that the problem lies with the version of LabVIEW I am using?

Hi Sam

Have you tried opening LV2010 and running it on there since it worked on 8.2? Again making sure there are no other programs open, as they may interfere with the memory.

Cheers
