3D graph crashes LabVIEW.. again

Hi battler,

Can you provide me with the video card models for the computer?  Also, what are the general stats on the computer?  Does it meet minimum LabVIEW reqs?

Also, does this only happen when the 'turbo' switch is off?  If so, is there any reason you can't use the turbo switch all the time?

Hi, I too am having the same problem with the graph properties of the 3D plots. I've just put a clean install of LV 2009 4th quarter. I've not yet applied the f3 patch but it doesn't appear that this solves the problem. I have the problem when running my new PC (Windos 7 64bit, ATI 5870 graphics card, 6GB RAM, core i7). The problem is seen on the example VIs for the 3D plots and I have not yet been able to view the other graph properties so far.

I don't have any problem with the 3D plot properties when using my laptop (XP) so perhaps this problem is due to Win 7 & Vista, or perhaps 64bit OS.

I have not had any issues with LV crashing but not being able to change the graph settings is a problem.

Hope this helps either by supplying more information or keeping the thread alive.

Cheers

What is the behavior when the properties are not accessible?  That is, can you not click on things or do the settings never take effect?  What is this behavior?

It is as shown on the first page of this thread. You can select any menu from the left but the RHS doesn't change and the view remains as if the Graphs property is being edited. Since my last post and a little more playing around I found that if I opened a new graph I was able to get it working (not sure why as I am performing the same operation but this time it just worked). I was then able to work with the 'new' 3d graph alongside the 'old' one which still did not work. Therefore it looks to me like its something in the object which is breaking and therefore not updating the properties view. I'll be working on this topic again in the next few days so will post more if I can find anything more out. Thanks for looking into this.

It's a 1 year old Sony Vaio business laptop SZ-56.  Nvidia Geforce 8400m GS (256MB).

It has a "Speed"/"Stamina" switch.  I use Stamina to prolong battery life while I'm travelling.

The 3D graph problems (crash and properties) need to be solved before I can release any VIs.

Please help by taking this seriously and sorting it out.

Given avazia's comments, perhaps avazia you can send in that VI with the one that works and the one that doesn't. Mark them appropriately with free labels.

I will post shortly though the problem can be seen using the NI example. I have also a little more to go on. I am unable to view any of the other graph properties for the ribbon plot, I believe this may have always been the ase, I can view properties for the stem plot . Therefore perhaps attention could be focused on differences between these two models.

Here is the 3d object for the ribbon plot. I am unable to edit any of the other graph properties as can be seen in the jpeg. The other graphs appear fine so perhaps its either something with my installation, or something else....

Thanks

Hi avazia,

I continue to experience no issues in opening these VIs.  I am using LabVIEW 2009 plain vanilla, no service packs.  Have you tried a repair of LV? Is it unique to just this machine?

I only experience this when on my win 7 64 bit machine. I will look at doing a repair sometime tomorrow, I installed the f3 fix but this didn't solve the problem and when I saw this thread thought it could be OS or LV2009 related (especially with all the problems there have been especially around graphs), and as I was working on a clean install of LV... Guess it could just be unlucky with the install so will try again with the repair. I guess you were able to open the plot properties and modify another tab (eg axis properties)?
