7.1 upgrade

I am slow to change, but the time has come to upgrade from V6.1 to V7.1 that has been setting on my desk for several months now. My applications tend to be graph intensive, I would like to hear ideas, problems and solutions you all have for doing this upgrade as painlessly as possible. I really do not want to completely rebuild my applications but fear that changes made in Labview versions will affect property node and specific calls.
thanks.

As far I can tell, no proerty nodes were dropped from 6.1 to 7.1, so that shouldn't be a problem. There is of course several new properties to play with.

The Event Structure has added several new features, but nothing was taken away.

There are several other new features, but overall, you shouldn't have any real problems. Everything that I've upgraded has done so fairly gracefully. I've not had to completely rebuild anything.

One note, there is an update to 7.1.1 that fixes some bugs in 7.1, so I would suggest installing it after you get 7.1 installed, but before you run the mass compile. No sense in doing that twice.

If I upgrade to 7.1.1, and create new vi's, will others who are still using 7.1 be able to open my new vi's, or will they too have to upgrade to 7.1.1?

Yes, 7.1.1 VIs can be opened and modified on a 7.1 version with no additional work. You do not have to do the "Save to Previous" step.
