9144 reported as EtherCAT master??

I must be missing something ...

Our 9144 shows up as "EtherCAT Master" in my project explorer.  I've re-added the 9144 several times.  I'm new to EtherCAT but I thought the cRIO controller (in our case a 9082) was always the EtherCAT Master?!  In fact, I just saw a posting saying the 9144 can't possibly be an EtherCAT Master.  I can right click on the 9144 and set master-like properties and add XML device file.

We are looking into a 3rd party EtherCAT motor driver and this is confusing me!

Thanks,

Steve

The Master you are seeing is your 9082 ethernet port configured for EtherCAT. The 9144 is the device underneeth detected as a slave.
