9862 with Motor Drive and Noise Issues

Solved!
Go to solution

hi,

I am using a 9862 to communicate to a motor controller. It is successfully communicating with the controller until I tell the controller to turn on the PWM drive. Once this is done there is a fair amount of noise which is causing the CAN communication to fail. I have all power and signal cables shielded and grounded so I'm not sure where to start looking. I've attached a video of a scope showing when the PWM drive is enabled and the noise. Does anyone know where to look to fix this issue?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

which kind of "PWM drive" do you use?

What does the manual of the device say about proper shielding?

(From looking at the video it will be hard to provide substantial advice…)

Best regards,

Hi Gerd,

It's an Emsiso  emDrive H300: emDrive H300 - emDrive

I figured out the issue. I originally had the cable with the control circuit voltage (24 VDC)  and using 0-5VDC to control the throttle in the same cable. I changed the 0-5VDC to CAN but it was still in the same cable. I separated the CAN from the control circuit voltage into separate shielded cables and now I am able to control the motor with the drive in the enabled state.
