A tool for VI version conversion?

Don't to quick to dismiss the amount of work in the back save.

Agreed.  I realize the amount of work involved because of the obsolete primitives in older versions, no event structures in pre LV6, etc.  It would be a tremendous amount of work.  Although I believe it could be done, it is way to costly and the cost isn't worth the benefit.

It is frustrating to find a nice example on this site and then discover that you can't even look at it since it's too new.  Perhaps the Evaluation Version could switch to a no-save/limited functionality paradigm after the 30 days so you could still play with it or just view examples and snippets but not save your work?

Now that is a great idea.  Those who are still using older versions (I used to be one of them, used LV8.2 until recently) could use the LV2009 eval version, and after 30 days it would allow you to see examples posted here, but not save them or create new VIs.  Maybe something like an Adobe Reader.  Its free and you can open any pdf file with the reader, but you can't create anything.

New idea! Smiley Surprised  We could have a free LV Reader and a new one would come out with each new LV release.

Even better a patch with every version for the previous viewer/reader to get updated..

I have put in a product suggestion for a Labview Viewer.  I would like to see NI produce it and offer it for free.
