Accelerometer Signal to Detect Shaft Imbalance

I looked at your data (from the first VI you posted). I don't have the SVL so I could not run the second one.

After some manipulation of the data I think you have three frequencies (and harmonics) in the data. The rotational frequency at 71 Hz is clearly present. Another component occurs at 100 Hz (twice the power line frequency?). And a third component shows up at 184 Hz. Each of these has at least three harmonics visible. As to the electrical/mechanical interpretation, I cannot do much more than this.

Since these frequencies and their harmonics overlap, they cannot be separated by simple filters. It is, in principle, possible to select the spectral components at f and n*f, do an inverse Fourier transform and subtract the resulting waveform from the original to separate the signals. In practice, given the amount of noise on the signals, this may not work very well.

I have attached the modifications I made to your VI while I was looking at your data. I used LV8, so I have not checked that everything will work in LV 7.1

well .. it gives me a spectrum in the minus!? did you take the signal out of the speed sensor ( that one which gives the speed of the shaft? ) .. it is indexed zero, u got the second power spectrum out of it. is that what u wanted to do ?

anyways , i am getting something wierd. when I unbalance the shaft , i get just one peak at 50-70 Hz! mm . have no clue .

appreciate ur efforts

Hi ,

I zoomed on the region 0-1000Hz , so I got only the peak am interested in . The peak moves now with the speed . looks OK for now . I'll try to filter the other signals later.

I am still interested to know how I can adjust the coupling and power options for the card.

Many thanks gentlemen,

Moh
