Alternatives to ActiveX for Automating Basler Pylon Viewer with LabVIEW

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a project where I need to capture the live video feed from pylon viewer into labview. Unfortunately, the application does not support ActiveX, and I would like to avoid using specific NI tools beyond LabVIEW. I’m looking for alternative methods to control and automate the application from LabVIEW.

Here are the details:

• Objective: Display live video feed from the camera with zoom control.
• Application: Basler Pylon Application
• Constraints: Cannot use ActiveX or NI-specific tools beyond LabVIEW.

Could anyone suggest alternative ways to achieve this? Any advice on interfacing methods, scripts, or protocols that could work with LabVIEW would be greatly appreciated.

The only good way is to use NI Vision Developpment. It's stable, it works very well with Basler Cameras. But it costs..

What are you going to do with the video?

If just display, how about make the 3rd party window a child window of your front panel?
