Application Builder and Student Edition

In Labview 8, student edition where do I go to install application builder?  I suppose its not part of a standard install because I don't think I have it.

I don't think the LabVIEW 8.0 Student edition has been released yet. Do you really have it? Who sells it?

In any case, the LabVIEW student edition has never included the application builder in the past versions. If you use the student edition for its intended purpose, you don't need an application builder. 😉

I go to Virginia Tech and we had a lecture on labview from an NI rep; he assigned each of us a copy of Labview 8 SE.  The reason I wanted to do an .exe  is we have a project where we are supposed to simulate writing software for one of our labs and I want to demonstrate the usablility without having to install LV on these rather old comps; just an .exe.  This thread here mentioned we could do App Builder: http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=10&message.id=73&requireLogin=False

The application builder is not free. ( List price is $995 per installation)

It is not clear what kind of educational discount you can get for it, because the academic discount for add-on and toolkits specifically excludes the application builder. I am sure your NI rep has more details. In any case, LabVIEW is only supported on newer versions of windows, so if these computers are really old (e.g. Windows 98 or ME) you're out of luck anyway. 😞

Well, the project has to be doable so talk it over with the professor.

Hi,

The LabVIEW 8.0 Student Edition you received at your Campus Workshop event is functionally equivalent to LabVIEW 8.0 Full Development System. This does not include the Application Builder.
