An excellent piece of test equipment, the HP8903 Audio Analyzer, will measure sound level, frequency, distortion, signal to noise ratio, and others. Alas, it is obsolete and I cannot find a suitable replacement. However, this instrument is available on the used test equipment market. Check with companies that deal in used equipment, like Test Equity, Test Equipment Connection, Excalibur Engineering, and many more. There are Labview drivers to control this instrument through GPIB.

The software you are looking for would be LabVIEW with the Sound and Vibration Toolkit. With that you will not only get the tools you need, but a good deal of example programs to help you along the way.

From a hardware point of view, our Dynamic Signal Analysers are perfectly suited for sound and vibrational measurements. We also have a large line of Data Acquisition devices that are also well suited for these types of measurements.
