Which version of GIMP are you guys using?  Do you find it stable?

I had downloaded a version (not sure which one at the moment) and find that it is crash prone.  It will just shut itself down and disappear.  So to work with it, I have to be sure to save often.

Thanks for the post. From where did you get the constant that you drag into the array?

In the vast majority of situations, you already have a few wires of the correct datatype laying around or you have a primitive that expects a certain data type.

In these cases, you can create a constant by simply right clicking the object and "create constant".

Examples:

  1. Click on an orange wire of a 1D DBL array. You'll get a diagram constant of such an array.
  2. Click on a thin orange wire and you'll get a scalar.
  3. Click on the wire of a complicated cluster and you'll get a diagram constant of that same cluster.
  4. Click in the input of a subVI and "create constant" and you'll get a diagram constant of the correct type, already containing the default value for that input, and already connected to the input. Do the same on an output, and you'll get basically the same, but not connected.

It is rarely necessary to go to the palettes for diagram constants. 🙂

If you want front panel objects instead, do "create control" or "create indicator".

You can switch between "control", "indicator", and "diagram constant" by right-clicking.. "change to control|indicator|constant".

Andrey,

How do you create giffs?

There are lot of possibilities how to do this (GIMP, etc). I using Camtasia Studio screen recorder: http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp.
With this software you can create such "video" in few seconds.
 Andrey.
