Setting up Windows XP on VMWare Server

In my last virtualization article Streamlined Software Development with Virtualization I discussed about benefits of virtualization and virtual machines on software development process. In this article I present how to set up an excellent free PC virtualization software VMWare server to Windows XP host computer and how to install Windows XP client system on it....

Expressionflow is a blog on LabVIEW and visual object-oriented programming.

Would there be interest on similar article on setting up a Linux virtual machine for LabVIEW development on Windows XP?

Wouldn't this be a matter of putting the Linux cd's in and following the instructions, and then the LabVIEW cd's and do the same? It might be interesting to show people how easy it is... Also, you would need to buy LabVIEW for Linux before you could use it.

I would like it if someone made a "tiny" Linux distribution that supports LabVIEW. Like the one in "LabVIEW Graphical Programming" (Johnson & Jennings). Unfortunately, the one they are using is out of date. Their Linux (PeeWeeLinux) doesn't seem to work anymore, probably because the vga drivers are ancient. Their distribution was only about 20 MB. Very nice to put on a 32 MB flash disk to reduce costs.

A VMWare demonstration showing how to install the Linux RTE without using RPM's (for instance on Puppy Linux, or Damn Small Linux) would be very useful to me. It should be possible with "alien", but all that Linux stuff has a steep learning curve.

Well, the installation of VMware tools on Linux is not straight forward.

Wouldn't know how compilcated that is. But it's not really LabVIEW related, although interesting.

There's not much information about Linux and LabVIEW. So I think more information about that would be appreaciated by the community...

Also, some documentation on running LabVIEW with a null-X device, or a VNC-X device (don't know the exact terms) would be very valuable.
