Attempting to initialise an instrument I get error code 1073807339?

After installing a third party driver for the California Instruments 3000Lx AC Power Supply, whenever I try and initilise the power supply, even when using the manufacturers VI's, an error appears reporting the above error code. I've read that it usually occurs when writing large amounts of data to the output port and the suggested solution was to extend the VISA timout period. However I'm not actually sure what that means particularly as I'm initialising an instrument rather than writing data?

Any assistance would be greatly appricated

If there is a standard 'Initialize' function, there is a read done. Usually, this is nothing more than a read of the *IDN? query and increasing the timeout should not make a differerence. It would help if you could post the driver for someone to look at and tell us the exact name of the function you are running.

In MAX, were you able to successfully scan for instruments and does your instrument appear?  If it did appear, did the *IDN? query work there?
