Automated Cable Tesing using PXI-2575 and PXI-4072

I'm trying to create a program using the PXI-2575 and PXI-4072 that will automate cable testing of different fabricated cables to include: short testing, continuity testing, mis-pin identification.  I have tried looking all over the NI community as well as the rest of the web for examples on how to even begin, but I have come up short so far. Can anyone point me in the correct direction?

Thank you for the info. This helps, but I have more questions about how to get the multiplexer to work correctly for what I want to do than the DMM.
